Indian Institute of Science (Bengaluru)

In 2024, building on long-standing partnerships at the USC Viterbi School of Engineering, USC deepened its collaboration with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru, India’s premier institute for advanced scientific and technological research and education. In addition to the expansion of a collaborative PhD exchange program – whereby PhD students spend a significant amount of time at the partner institution during their course of study, with faculty advisors at both institutions – a new USC-IISc collaborative research program was launched. The USC-IISc Collaborative Network Award, funded by the USC Office of Research and Innovation, is designed to promote innovative, collaborative research projects and activities amongst faculty from each institution.

Keck School of Medicine of USC

Partnership with the Sir H. N. Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Center (Mumbai)

Established in 2015, the partnership aims to create India’s premier robotic surgery and urology program at Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Center. Additionally, USC and Reliance Foundation Hospital are collaborating in teaching and research activities, including advanced training for Indian urologists and residents. Leading the effort on USC’s behalf is Inderbir Gill, the founding executive director of the USC Institute of Urology and chairman and professor in the Catherine and Joseph Aresty Department of Urology at the Keck School of Medicine of USC.

USC Gould School of Law

Partnership with O.P. Jindal Global University, Jindal Global Law School (Sonipat)

Established in 2023, the partnership between the USC Gould School of Law and O.P. Jindal Global Law School (JGLS) expands opportunities for students to gain international experience during their time in law school. In addition to JGLS becoming one of Gould’s six J.D. student exchange partners, the two institutions also established an LLM Pathway Program for O.P. Jindal students. Through the program, O.P. Jindal students can obtain both a five-year BA/BBA/ B. Com. LLB (Hons) degree or the three-year LLB degree from JGLS and an LLM degree from USC in one year less time than would be required if the degrees were pursued sequentially.

USC Marshall School of Business

BITS School of Management (Mumbai)

USC Marshall School of Business and the BITS School of Management aim to partner on academic and research initiatives. With a formal memorandum of understanding signed in January 2024, both schools plan to develop a dual degree program that leads to an MBA from BITSoM and a specialized MS degree from USC Marshall. Other dimensions of the partnership entail exchange of visiting scholars and graduate students.

SP Jain Institute of Management and Research (Mumbai)

Since 2016, the Randall R. Kendrick Institute of Global Supply Chain Management and the SP Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR) have cultivated a collaborative relationship including business delegations and joint research. Most recently in 2022, the institutions established a pathway program, inviting students to apply to both the Global Management Programme (GMP) at SPJIMR and the Master of Science in Global Supply Chain Management (MSGSCM) at USC. Admitted students begin their studies at SPJIMR and earn a certificate after completing the GMP. Students are allowed to transfer a limited amount of credits from SPJIMR to USC to count toward their MSGSCM.

U.S. India Importer’s Council (Mumbai)

In 2024, the USC Marshall Randall R. Kendrick Global Supply Chain Institute and U.S. India Importer’s Council, a Mumbai-based not-for-profit working to forge partnership and trade between Indian and American businesses, established a partnership with the aim of working together to advance supply chain and logistics education.

USC Mrs. T.H. Chan Division of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy

Centre for Autism and Other Disabilities Rehabilitation Research and Education (Trivandrum, Kerala)

Since 2019, the USC Chan Division of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy has had an active collaboration with the Centre for Autism and Other Disabilities Rehabilitation Research and Education (CADRRE), a leading clinical, education and research center devoted to serving children on the autism spectrum. Over the last five years, CADRRE and USC Chan have engaged in faculty/staff exchanges, sharing of clinical resources/information and online scientific seminars, with the hope to initiate student exchanges in the near future.

iPodia Alliance – Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani (Hyderabad)

Using advanced technology developed at the USC Viterbi School of Engineering, iPodia creates borderless experiential learning environments in which USC students and their global peers are learning together for a better world. The USC-led iPodia alliance is currently composed of 14 universities, including Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani in Hyderabad, India.

Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (Mumbai)

The USC Viterbi School of Engineering and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay partnership was first established in 2011 to promote academic cooperation and research collaboration. In 2024, the institutions agreed to partner on the NAE Grand Challenges Scholars Program, whereby an undergraduate student from each institution will team up to work jointly on a project supervised jointly by a faculty member from each institution.

Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad

The USC Viterbi School of Engineering and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad partnership was first established in 2011 to promote academic cooperation and research collaboration. In 2024, the institutions agreed to collaborate on a for-credit course jointly taught by USC and IIT Hyderabad on a mutually agreed upon engineering topic.

Viterbi-Indo-US Science and Technology Forum (IUSSTF) Program

Since 2011, the USC Viterbi School of Engineering and the Indo-US Science and Technology Forum (IUSSTF) have partnered to offer the Viterbi-IUSSTF Program. Each summer, this program provides opportunities to students pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in India to undertake a research internship at the USC Viterbi School in the field of electrical engineering and computer science.

Training Programs in Aviation Safety

Since 2021, the USC Viterbi School of Engineering’s Aviation Safety and Security Program has partnered with Boeing to provide Safety Management System (SMS) trainings to India’s aviation stakeholders, contributing to the continued learning of best practices in India’s aviation ecosystem.

JOUR 585: Religion, Politics and Culture

JOUR 585: Religion, Politics and Culture

Sponsored by the Knight Program in Media and Religion at the Annenberg School, graduate and upper-level undergraduate students in JOUR 585: Religion, Politics and Culture participate in a faculty-led trip during spring break to the domestic or international region of focus for the course. The course has traveled to India five times since 2012, exploring and reporting on the intersection of religion, politics and culture in the region.

USC Dornsife College of Letter, Arts and Sciences

Overseas Studies – Carleton College – Buddhist Studies (Bodh Gaya)

In this study abroad program offered by Carleton College, students explore Buddhism in India through interdisciplinary courses and Buddhist meditation traditions and have a unique opportunity to conduct rigorous independent research in the field. Through comparative study, the program examines each of the three major Buddhist traditions and their historical development: Therevada, Mahayana and Vajrayana.

DANC 187: Bollywood Dance

An introduction to basic and intermediate Bollywood dance, including technique, movement, musical rhythm, phrases and choreography. Inspired by the high energy music from Indian films, Bollywood is a fusion form that combines traditional Indian folk and classical dances with Hip Hop, Jazz, Latin and Middle-eastern dance.
